CARE & MAINTENANCE
PREVENTING DAMAGE
In most cases, Staron® can be repaired with ease if accidentally damaged. However, be sure to follow these guidelines to prevent any damage to Staron® .
Heat damage:Staron has excellent heat resistant property compared with other ordinary
countertops. However, placing hot pans, as well as some heat-generating appliances such as frying pans or pots, can damage the surface. Always use a hot pad or a trivet with rubber
feet to protect Staron® . Avoid subjecting Staron® to temperatures over 80˚C (170˚F).
Other damages:Avoid exposing Staron® to strong chemicals such as paint removers and oven cleaners. Surfaces exposed to these chemicals should be promptly flushed with water.
Prolonged contact will cause spots that may require extensive repairs.
• Do not cut directly on a Staron® surface; always use a cutting board
• Run cold water when pouring boiling water into sinks
• Remove nail polish with a non-acetone-based nail polish remover and flush with water.
For more information, please contact your Staron® dealer or visit us at www.staron.com
Note:Any of the above can affect the surface finish and color. Dark colors may require more maintenance.
Staron's solid composition makes it easy to maintain because it is homogenous. Over time, it can be restored to look like new by removing stains and scratches with a detergent. Periodic maintenance to ensure optimal beauty is recommended.
CLEANING SURFACES AND SINKS
Occasionally clean the surface with soap, water and an ammonia-based cleanser using a
sponge or damp cloth. Towel dry.
In order to remove severe and difficult stains:
Dull Finishes:Use an abrasive cleanser and a green Scotch-Brite® (registered trademark ofthe 3M company) pad. Rub in a circular motion.
Semigloss Finishes:Use Soft Scrubdiluted bleach and a white Scotch-Brite® pad. Rub in acircular motion.
CLEANING SURFACES AND SINKSCONTINUED…
High-Gloss Finishes:Follow procedure for semi gloss, but use a sponge instead of a Scotch-Brite® pad, or use a white polishing compound in a circular motion.
• Contaminants that can be cleaned with water:
Tea, water-soluble ink, household soap, coffee, synthetic detergent, shoe polish, alkaline solutions, olive
oil, hydrogen peroxide, soy sauce, vinegar, nail polish remover, milk, fruit juice.

Cosmetics, Iodide solution, crayon, ketchup, eye shadow, oleaginous ink, hair dye.
• Substances that can damage the surface of Staron® :
Industrial chemicals such as strong acids, ketones and solvenated chlorine.
Disinfecting Surfaces and Sinks
Occasionally wipe with diluted household bleach (water: bleach solution in 1:1 ratio).
Removing Cuts and Scratches
When Staron® is scratched or cut, repairs should be based on the following recommendations.
Staron highly recommends that difficult or extensive repairs be performed by Certified Staron® Fabricators.
• For dull finishes: Sand with 180-grit (120 micron) or 220-grit (60 micron) fine sandpaper
until the cut and scratch is removed. Restore finish with soap & water and a green Scotch Brite® pad to the
same finish as the adjacent surface.
• For semi-gloss finishes: Sand with 400-grit (30 micron) sandpaper, and restore finish with a nonabrasive
cleanser and a white Scotch-Brite® pad.
• For high-gloss finishes: sand with 400-grit (30 micron) or 600-grit (20 micron) sandpaper, and buff with a
polishing compound and a low-speed (1500-2000 rpm) polisher using a wool pad. Finish with wax.
All of the above sanding and polishing should be done in a circular motion.
